Die letzten zehn Tagen waren etwas seltsam und durchwachsen für mich, einige gute und nicht so gute Neuigkeiten und einigermaßen viel Arbeit. Heute habe ich frei und beschlossen etwas für meine Stimmung zu tun, angefangen habe ich beim Outfit. Den Rock habe ich mal in der Gabriele Vintage Boutique in Brüssel gefunden; immer wenn ich ihn trage wird er zum Gesprächsgegenstand, ich bin schon so viel darauf angesprochen worden und auch schon darin photographiert. Er ist, inklusive der Applikationen, handgemacht, ich habe keine Ahnung wer in gemacht hat aber er ist auf jeden Fall sehr niedlich. Immer wenn ich in letzter Zeit mal eine kurze Sofort-Aufmunterung braucht habe ich mir die Mitchiri Neko Parade angesehen, das dazugehörige Spiel wird mir wohl ein Mysterium bleiben (diese Anleitung scheint etwas zu helfen) aber das Filmchen rührt mich jedes Mal aufs Neue. Nun werde ich gleich noch etwas Nähen (ein kleines, unkompliziertes Projektchen dass sich gerade zum Monster auswächst) und mir später irgendetwas möglichst kindisches zum Abendessen machen – Schokoladenpudding vielleicht?

The last ten days had their ups and downs for me, I received some good and not so good news and worked a lot. I have a day off today and decided to cheer myself up, starting with my outfit. I found the skirt a few years ago at Gabriele’s vintage boutique in Brussels and it’s always a conversation piece when I wear it, I was even photographed wearing it by complete strangers. I have no idea who made it (it is completely hand-made) but the carriages are so cute. I watched the Mitchiri Neko march whenever I needed encouragement in the last time, I will probably never understand what the game is about (this instruction seems to help a bit) but the parade cheers me up immediately. I will sew something now (a supposedly easy and straightforward project that is turning into a monster right now) and I will have a very childish dinner later – chocolate pudding, maybe?

Ich bin – schon wieder – krank und verbringe die Woche im Bett, diesmal bei schönstem Wetter und brütenden 35 Grad. Ich bin etwas genervt und leider auch zu energielos um mich wenigstens endlich meinen liegengebliebenden Emails/Kommentaren/Newsfeeds oder anderen Aufgaben zu widmen. Apropos Newsfeeds: Ich sollte die Zeit vermutlich nutzen mir über einen RSS Nachfolger Gedanken zu machen bevor Google Reader in einigen Tagen eingestellt wird, aber leider bin ich immer noch nicht zufrieden mit dem was ich bislang an Alternativen gefunden habe. Ich mag Bloglovin‘ zwar, es hat aber lange nicht genug Filter- und Anzeigefunktionen für meine Zwecke. Ich habe einige hundert Feeds abboniert, von Tagesnachrichten- & Feuilletonabos diverser Tageszeitungen zu Blogs und Nachrichten über Mode, Illustrationen, Technik etc und diese Menge lässt sich mit Bloglovin einfach nicht sinnvoll verwalten. Bei Bloglovin’ kann ich zwar Gruppen anlegen, innerhalb dieser Gruppen aber keine Feinabstimmungen in Bezug auf die Darstellung der Nachrichten machen und die Funktionen der mobilen App sind eher rudimentär. Ich lese nur die Blogs bei Bloglovin’ bei denen ich öfter selber kommentiere (vor allem Mode- und Nähblogs) und das funktioniert ganz gut aber für den Rest der Nachrichten ist es leider untauglich. Feedly ist etwas besser aber auch noch nicht gut genug, vor allem die (zugegebenermaßen schicke) Smartphone-App. Meine RSS-Feeds habe ich bislang am Rechner und mobil mit dem wirklich tollen Programm Reeder gelesen, hier ist ein Screenshot. Ich hoffe Digg lässt sich bald wie angekündigt etwas einfallen damit ich das so weiter nutzen kann aber die Zeit drängt allmählich… Kennt jemand weitere Alternativen?

I am – again – sick and will have to stay at home this week while it’s perfect summer weather outside (35 degrees Celsius!). I am a bit annoyed and also currently too shiftless to take care of my emails/comments/newsfeeds or to tackle any other projects. Speaking of news feeds: I still haven’t found a replacement for Google Reader yet and the service will shut down in a few days already, I am really nervous about that. I like Bloglovin‘ but it is missing some advanced features. I have subscribed to a few hundreds of feeds in the last few years, political and art news from several newspapers and also a lot of news and blogs on fashion, illustration and technology etc. and Bloglovin’ is just not able to cope with this amount of different feeds. I am able to group them but I can’t fine-tune the appearance of these groups and the mobile app is super basic also. I decided to read the blogs that I frequently comment on (mostly fashion and sewing related blogs) with Bloglovin’ and this works quite well but what about the everything else? Feedly is slightly better in my mind but not polished enough as well, especially the (admittedly nice to look at) mobile app. I use the desktop and mobile version of the application Reeder right now for all my feeds and love it dearly (here is a screenshot). I sincerely hope that Digg will take care of this problem so that I can keep using it but it’s kind of urgent now so I am a bit anxious… do you have any recommendations?
